Anglo 3-1 Ravens
Ravens went into this game against a side that had beaten us 12-1 in a previous home game, we were all determined that this was not going to happen again, Ravens began in a positive formation playing an attacking 442, but after a promising start Anglo clinically took the lead with a great run down the wing and pinpoint cross which was lashed home from close range, the 2nd goal was almost identical to the 1st, the same player used his pace to get by keeper Grant Sadler and laying the ball back to be converted. There we were again after a good start to a game we were 2-0 down but a new found resilience was evident, and instead of rolling over and getting our bellies tickled we actually believed that we could get back into this game. Anglo did not like this and began flying in with knee high challenges, but however high these challenges were we did not stoop to there level and began to pass the ball around, people making runs, balls into space, give and goes, it was all happening. The pressure began to show in the referees notebook as several yellow cards were given out. The tide began to turn shortly after when Agron chased a ball he had no right to win, but when he shifted gears superbly he outran 2 men who had a 5 yard head start. As he picked up the ball with just the keeper to beat he was body checked which surely had to be a red card, but in the melee that followed another Anglo player threw the ball at Agron for being body checked, he was sent off for a second book able offence. Surely 11 against 9, but no the defender was gifted a yellow card. From the resulting free kick Ross Evans hit a shot that span more then the teacups at Chessington and crashed off the underside of the bar. Ravens seemed to have Anglo up against the ropes and then the whistle blew for half time.
Shooting downhill in the second half we had pacey players who had the ability to stretch the defence further then Chelsea’s transfer budget, hahaha. The 2nd half began at a frantic pace and Ravens were all over Anglo like sesame seeds on a bagel. Confidence began to grow and after a long clearance from Grant Sadler and a couple of headers later, Agron out battled a homie and after some slick footwork finished with aplomb, only to be completely wrongly deemed offside. Lineo are you blind!! I uttered, Should have gone to Specsavers!! bellowed Ross Evans. Ravens did not however let this affect there performance and after a miss hit clearance by the Anglo goalkeeper Ross Evans chested the ball down and hit a looper from 40 yards, perfectly struck and lobbed the goalkeeper, What a hit son! Find a sock drawer and stick that in it! At this point Ravens had the momentum in there favour and pushed on for an equaliser. Kyle Moss was proving instrumental with some trademark runs down the left. Agron was chasing everything down. Kev and Liam were keeping the forwards under control with ease. However as we chased this equaliser we deserved, the leagues top scorer broke free and slotted home from 12 yards. This should have wiped out all of our hopes of an equaliser but it didn’t and we kept chasing everything down, showing that brilliant Ravens passion and gave everything we had but sadly it wasn’t enough in the end.
