I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kev Brooks for all of the hard work that he has put in. He is the first person in a Ravens shirt to make a sacrifice for the good of everyone else. He also lead this team to a cup final with a leaders display comparable to Roy Keane against Juventus. Is it me or is this exactly the same story as Alan Pardew. Except the Juventus part, and maybe the Ravens part.
With Mike Hennessy newly installed as the Ravens manager a good start was essential, however like Jimmy Grimble once said "if you fail to prepare, then prepare to fail". A short warm up was not enough to stop us going behind in the first 10 minutes after a great save from Grant Sadler, who could not be held responsible for the rebound being converted. After this, 1 turned to 2, day turned to night, and sweet turned to sour. However saying that, in the closing stages of the first half Tim Brown went close after a perfectly weighted ball by Floss Evans, Tim controlled and composed himself delightfully only to see his rocket fly into a bucket of water when the keeper made a great save. Ross Evans and Kevin Brooks went close with a header, after a great cross from somebody, it will have to go down to the dubious crosses panel. It stayed at 2-0 until the break. Ravens went back into this second half with more belief then a Jehova Witness, even so Grant Sadler and Kev Brooks both got close to keeping the ball out of the fish net but were powerless to stop it. Unlike i thought the belief in our team did not change like it has before, we kept battling for the ball, with Rob Bentham on the front line, and after a dazzling run he was felled by a blinded defender. He finished what he started and the penalty was neatly dispatched from 12 yards. Ravens kept knocking on the door for about 20 minutes when Rob Olding was causing more problems then marmite in a slab of butter. Ross Evans was also showing glimpses of adding to his 11 goals. However after another chance was clinically taken against us, the air was completely taken out of our balloon. The score finished at 4-1 which was in my opinion a very encouraging performance, and the result did not reflect the run of play.
